A Letter from Attica

Dear Neighbors:

I filed to run for Kentucky House District 41 because you know me and many of you have asked me repeatedly in the past year to return to the political arena. I have experience in Frankfort as a community leader who has been to the Capitol fighting for issues that matter to people in the east end and the west end: raising the state minimum wage to its current rate, fighting against anti-immigrant legislation, fighting for state-wide fairness, and so much more. I have fought for west Louisville for years, not just in the past few months leading up to election season.

As an experienced legislator, I will take my commitment to women, working families, and our children to Frankfort and advocate for education, equity and our environment.

As an Emerge Kentucky alumna, I know how important it is to have Democratic women in office. It is time for someone who will work for all of District 41, not just some of District 41. It is time for us to stop being afraid to take on the people with familiar last names and those with longevity in office.

I am running because fairness is good for business, because early childhood education is good for our Commonwealth, and because reducing income inequality is good for our people. What matters to you? As the people’s candidate, I am listening to you and learning from you.

We know that there are problems that are hurting our Commonwealth. We know that there are legislators who attempt to use their political position to discriminate against our neighbors, bully other Democrats, and make it clear that they are not team players. You deserve better and should expect real Democrats to represent you in Frankfort.

As your State Representative, I will bring a fresh perspective to Frankfort, an ability to serve people in the east and west ends, and the experience of working across the aisle to pass good legislation. We need new leadership to keep moving Kentucky forward or we will get left behind.

I am the only woman in this race and yet our District is 62% women. I live our issues every day and will fight for our concerns. I believe that we can rank better than 44 of 50 states in our percentage of women in state legislature. I believe in people power. I believe that we will win. We must move Kentucky forward. We are in this together! Yes, I am the name on the ballot but you are all on this journey with me. Will you help me to win this race for all of us? I would be honored to have your vote. I will be a good steward of your campaign donations. I will celebrate your volunteerism.

In community,

Attica
